Springfield, MA – Seven directors and twenty actors have assembled to play with classic dialogue this fall as Unity House Players, a community theater based in Springfield, presents “Shakespeare’s Timeless Twisted Pub”- an event filled with comedy, tragedy, and history, along with food, drinks and strolling variety artists in an intimate cabaret setting.
The event runs for four days only- Thursday October 15th through Sunday October 18th. Each night will begin with casual cocktails and mocktails amidst roaming musicians and other entertainers. Then six scenes take the stage, each from a different Shakespearean play, and each with a different director’s unique take. Some will be placed in contemporary times for modern relevance, some placed in atypical locations to explore the characters’ relationships, all presented in a playful and thoughtful manner.
Producing director Joshua Prouser oversaw the entire process collaborating with each director to ensure a cohesive production. “It’s been a great experience bringing so many talented folks together to create an event showcasing the work of the famous Bard! While some directors have chosen a more traditional approach, others are putting an interesting spin on their scene,” notes Prouser. “We’re proud to feature incredible work by so many skilled local artists.” Prouser will also act as emcee bringing the audience along the journey comically setting each scene.
Tickets are $30 which includes a meal, or $20 for the show only without meal. There is also an option to purchase a whole private table with meals for up to 8 people for $200. Additional drinks will also be available for purchase. Tickets with meals must be reserved ahead of time at uuspringfield.org.
