Our History

This history of this congregation dates back to 1819-20, when a group of people broke with tradition (and Old First Church, Springfield) and formed the Third Congregational Society of Springfield.  We were known as Church of the Unity from 1869 until the late 1950's.  Much has changed over the 200+ years since, but UUSGS's pioneering spirit -- and focus on inclusive religion that makes sense -- is as strong as ever.
