Unity House Players is proud to present their next musical featuring young performers- HADESTOWN: Teen Edition. This full-length production of Anaïs Mitchell’s haunting, jazz-inflected folk opera follows Orpheus’ mythical quest to overcome Hades and regain the favor of his one true love, Eurydice.

Under the artistic and musical direction of Elisabeth Weber, this talented cast of young performers between the ages of 13 and 19 from at least five surrounding towns has been rehearsing this piece several times a week over the past 3 months.  This has been a passion project of Weber’s with the aim to bring the Broadway hit back to its folk storytelling roots while still relating to contemporary issues. Debra Vega created choreography featured throughout the show that will be executed by a cast of nearly 2 dozen performers. Eric Boucher and Darcie Farber served as Creative Directors overseeing the scenic, technical, and costuming elements along with working with the actors.  The audience will enjoy an intimate venue with action surrounding them and a live eight piece orchestra.

Alicia Ricks, who plays Persephone says "I love how unique this show is and it’s amazing storytelling. It shows how complicated life is in the most beautiful way possible”. Riley Moore, who plays one of the Fates adds “I have enjoyed building so many new friendships within our community and appreciate how each and every person pushes me to do my best”.

Performances will be held Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30PM and Sundays at 2PM from August 15th to 24th. Tickets cost $15 for students and seniors, $20 for adults and can be purchased at the door or online at uuspringfield.org.
