Silhouettes of trees, a translucent veil, an uncertain landscape, an unknown realm. This month's installation invites us to consider the fear of the unknown and the courage it takes to move forward when we cannot see or know clearly what lies ahead. In our uncertainty or confusion, we can be so focused on the individual trees—the immediate obstacles, questions, and fears—that we lose sight of the forest.

As Halloween and All Souls’ Day draw from ancient traditions of marking the threshold between the light and the dark, this season invites us to enter a time of diminishing light and bring close what sustains us: our memories, our loved ones, our community, and the things that give us courage.

Courage may be less about knowing the way and more about trusting ourselves and each other to take the next step, even when the path is unclear.
