Love and Help", a group activity program created by the Unitarian Universalist Association to help youth explore what it means to be a UU, how we gather and why. We'll discuss belonging, rituals and symbols, principles and values and UUs in history. We'll use the included workbook as our primary source and tool to guide us through sessions. Youth should have their workbook at both sessions and may have a home assignment.
Where: 245 Porter Lake Drive, Springfield, Massachusetts at the campus of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Greater Springfield, in person.
When: Two sessions, one each January 11 & 18, 2026. Sunday after the 11am service from 12:30pm-2pm. Each session will be half the program, attendance at both is the goal. February 8, 2026, Presentation of Awards on Scout Sunday. Scouts are invited to wear their Scout uniform to the Sunday morning services at UUSGS to be recognized on the anniversary of the founding date of Scouting America. PLEASE REGISTER ASAP!
Who: ALL YOUTH aged 7-11, regardless of Scouting or UU affiliation are invited to participate.
Cost: $20 total. Participants will receive the 35 page paperback workbook Love and Help and a medal. Scouts will receive a purple knot patch to wear on their uniform. Payment due at time of first session.
Adults are welcome to stay with their children and participate. Adults are not required to stay in the room but are required to stay on the UUSGS campus throughout each session, this is not a drop off event. Once we get a sense of attendance we'll plan to organize a lunch among those signed up, if needed.
Leader: Mr. Jack Kennedy (he/him). Jack is a registered leader of a Cub Scout Pack (Cubmaster) and member of the Board of Trustees at UUSGS. Recently a participant in Woodbadge Scout leader training, Jack is pleased to lead this program for all interested youth and families.
