Worship: "Returning Home..."

This is what was bequeathed us:
This earth the beloved left

The poet reminds us that possiblity is perhaps best understood as promise for this world, this life... not another one far away.  So much of popular religion de-emphasizes the here & now in favor of afterlife transactions; Unitarian Universalism suggests that we act ethically -- and appreciatively -- in this life for the sake of itself (and yourself!).  Rev. Rebecca Parker & Rita Nakashima Brock (UU) write: "We invite you now to return home to paradise with us so that, together, we can save it.”
