"You can hold yourself back from the sufferings of the world, that is something you are free to do and it accords with your nature, but perhaps this very holding back is the one suffering you could avoid." -- Franz Kafka
"Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion." -- bell hooks
Sometimes it is easier to describe something by what it is not.
Healing is NOT a return. Healing moves us forward.
Healing is NOT "one & done." Healing is ongoing.
Healing is NOT accidental. Or easy. Healing takes time, and -- like building, or recovery -- healing is often made easier with smaller steps. And good company.
This morning, we invite you to consider what healing is - and is NOT - to you. Brick by brick, we build the world anew...
