Justice Ministry is vital component of how we embody our faith at UUSGS. The Congregation votes in annual meeting each year to charter Justice Ministry Teams through whose efforts our congregation lives our values and makes meaningful connection and impact in our broader community.
DIVERSITY, EQUITY, PARTICIPATION, HUMAN RIGHTS, ACCESS
The Unitarian Universalism principles focus on valuing and respecting everyone while promoting equity, justice, and compassion. The Racial and Economic Justice Task Force at UUSGS aims to work towards racial and economic justice and healing by partnering with institutions, hosting educational events, screening films, and facilitating dialogues.
The UUSGS Green Team purpose is to share environmental information with the congregation, develop action plans to address climate issues, and work collaboratively with other state and local organizations to enhance the livability and enjoyment of our Earth. Our concerns include climate justice and building a sustainable world.
UUSGS partners with local refugee resettlement agencies and families to provide ongoing partnership and support. Together, we proclaim the inherent worth and dignity of every person.
We collect an Offering during most Sunday services, then donate the entire amount to a partner organization doing good work in our communities. Organizations are often nominated by members. We regard this weekly gesture as a part of our spiritual practice, to encourage generous hearts, to envision what is possible when we work together, and to deepen our connection to those in our communities who are working to make the world a more loving place. UUSGS has given away over $90,000 to local and national partner organizations in the last five years.
