Music
From our Interim Music Director, Elisabeth Weber:
A Big thank you to everybody who has helped me get started with my new role this year! I am overwhelmed by the support and enthusiasm,
and I am really looking forward to the coming months. The choir is truly wonderful to work with. I am so excited to be working with a group of musicians who read music and who care about bringing the music to life
.... see you on Sunday!

Margaret Irwin Brandon at the console of our Aeolian Skinner organ
Music greets you as you first enter our sanctuary for worship, and it's what fills your ears and spirit when you leave, as well. Whether you are a listener, singer, worshiper, choir member, instrumentalist, visitor or member, music accompanies you in your spiritual journey with us at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Greater Springfield. We're fortunate to have a beautiful Aeolian Skinner organ and a Steinway Grand in the sanctuary, a choir that loves to sing, and a minister whose love of music infects our worship.
All are welcome to join the chorus of song or to participate as listeners. You are welcome!
Sincerely,

The Choir
The choir welcomes all those who enjoy singing and sharing their voices with the congregation. Rehearsals take place from 7:30 to 9:00 every Thursday night (7-9 p.m. in October, November and December). We usually sing at worship services on the first and third Sundays of the month. Croissants and Choir offers an opportunity for occasional singers who cannot commit to weekly choir rehearsals and two services a month. Come join the choir on the first Sunday of the month at 9:00 a.m. in Friendship Hall for juice, tea, coffee, bagels, croissants and conversation. At 9:30 we practice the music for that Sunday service. The music is usually a quick study and has already been rehearsed. Contact Meg Irwin-Brandon.
Music Committee
Our purpose is to enhance the quality of music in the Society. The committee, with the Director of Music, coordinates the music program and maintains musical resources and instruments. The committee provides live music for special events and for Sunday morning services when the Director of Music is absent. We promote the participation of children and adults in the musical life of the congregation and encourage inter-church musical events. If you are interested in offering your singing/musical gifts in worship or in any way, contact Olga Michael.
Friends of the Organ
This committee, along with the Director of Music, is responsible for preserving our valuable Aeolian-Skinner organ. Needed repairs and enhancements that will extend its capabilities and increase its value will be undertaken as funding allows. Contact Connie Hutton.
Folk concerts take place in Friendship Hall on Saturday nights once a month. The music and the performers are truly inspirational in the broadest and best sense of the word. These concerts, organized and promoted by Beth and Ed Brown, provide outreach to the community, fellowship for coffeehouse supporters and audience, and financial contributions to the Society.
