MUSIC

Choir

The choir welcomes all those who enjoy singing and sharing their voices with the congregation.  Rehearsals take place from 7:30 to 9:00 every Thursday night.  We usually sing at worship services on the first and third Sundays of the month.

“Croissants and Choir”

offers an opportunity for occasional singers who cannot commit to weekly choir rehearsals and two services a month.  Come join the choir on the first Sunday of the month at 9:00 a.m. in Friendship Hall for juice, tea, coffee, bagels, croissants and conversation.  At 9:30 we practice the music for that Sunday service.  The music is usually a quick study and has already been rehearsed.

Music Committee

Our purpose is to enhance the quality of music at UUSGS.  The committee, with the Director of Music, coordinates the music program and maintains musical resources and instruments.  The committee provides live music for special events and for Sunday morning services when the Director of Music is absent.  We promote the participation of children and adults in the musical life of the congregation and encourage inter-church musical events.  If you are interested in offering your singing/musical gifts in worship or in any way, click on the link to contact us.

uNi Coffeehouse

Folk music concerts take place in Friendship Hall on a Saturday night each month from September to May.  The music and the performers are truly inspirational in the broadest and best sense of the word.  These concerts are organized and promoted by long-time members, Beth and Ed Brown, who work with volunteers drawn from the congregation and the community.  These concerts provide community outreach, fellowship between team members and audience, and financial support for UUSGS.  Contact http://www.uNicoffeehouse.org.

Friends of the Organ

This committee, along with the Director of Music, is responsible for preserving our valuable Aeolian-Skinner organ.  The pipe organ, along with the stained glass window, Rebekah at the Well, is the only other irreplaceable object saved from our former building, the Church of the Unity.  Repairs and enhancements that will extend the organ’s capabilities and increase its value will be undertaken as funding allows.
