CONGREGATIONAL MISSION & GOVERNANCE
Governing Board
This committee has general charge of the UUSGS property, the conduct of its business affairs, the control of its administration, and the establishment of policies and procedures which support the mission and vision of the congregation. Members are elected to serve three-year terms.
Congregational Life Council
This Council meets on the first Tuesday each month from September to June. Membership consists of representatives of all the programming committees. We coordinate the programs and community- building activities of the congregation and make relevant programming decisions.
The Vice President of the Governing Board chairs this Council.
Human Resources/Nominating Committee
Members are elected to serve three-year terms. We recruit members willing to serve as UUSGS officers and recommend a slate to be elected at the annual meeting. This committee promotes leadership training and coordinates the matching of members and friends with the various committees and groups.
Public Relations
This individual, or committee, develops and implements a publicity campaign to highlight the activities, programs, and core beliefs of our Society, creates and maintains a positive public image, draws attention to societal issues, and attracts new members.
Stewardship
This committee works toward developing a culture of generosity within our faith community. We plan, organize and administer the annual stewardship drive, monitor pledges, and seek new pledges between the annual drives.
Finance/Endowment
These two committees oversee and monitor UUSGS finances, recommend budgets, and coordinate the work of related sub-committees. We oversee the investment of the endowment and promote and assist bequest and trust giving.
Personnel Committee
This committee formulates personnel policy, develops job descriptions, recruits and recommends the hiring of persons to fill staff positions (except the minister) and facilitates annual employment reviews. We recommend salaries and benefit packages for all staff, including the minister, that conform to the UUA Fair Compensation Guidelines.
Ministerial Ombuds Team
This ad hoc group holds a safe space to receive concerns or grievances about the professional minister and is composed of the Personnel Committee Chair, the Renewal Team Chair, and the Governing Board Vice President.
