Epic, grand & uplifting, this award-winning musical is performed entirely by youth from the greater Pioneer Valley and beyond.
Set in nineteenth century France, the story plays on themes of justice, poverty, class-ism, self identity, community, faith, and love that are relevant today and are especially relatable to the teen cast. Presented in an intimate theater space, the audience is transported along with the cast through the journey and questions this story provokes.
Les Misérables (School Edition) packs an emotional wallop that has thrilled audiences all over the world. The sung-through piece is performed by a cast of exceptional singers and overflows with much-loved melodies and standards. This author-approved edition has been abridged to a running time of just over two hours, while beautifully maintaining the integrity of this musical masterpiece.
The cast features students from all across the greater Pioneer Valley and beyond, including: Springfield, East Longmeadow, Longmeadow, West Springfield, South Hadley, Hampden, Wilbraham, Palmer, Monson, Sturbridge, Greenfield, East Granby, Enfield, and Ellington. Members of the UUSGS children’s chorus also appear.
Due to mature themes this production may not be suitable for some young viewers. Parental discretion is advised.
