  • 6:00 pm - 6:30 pm
  • Foster Memorial Church 1791 Wilbraham Rd. Springfield, MA

Many of you have expressed concern at what is happening on our Southern border. You/we are not alone In that concern. A vigil is being planned locally – sponsored by the Interfaith Council of Greater Springfield (of which UUSGS is a part) – that will tie in with Lights for Liberty, a coordinated nationwide action on July 12th. This local event will be hosted by our friends at Foster Memorial Church. Here is a message from the leadership of the Interfaith Council & Foster Memorial:

“Because we want to honor the timing of the Jewish Shabbat, we will hold the vigil on Friday, July 12 from 6-6:30 pm at Foster Memorial church, located at 1791 Wilbraham Road in Springfield. Parking is available in the back of the church and on the side street.

The vigil will begin with a quiet witness of holding signs on the church’s front lawn, facing the street, so we can be seen by people passing by. We will close the vigil with a very brief time of candlelight and prayer.

All are invited to join us for the vigil. Please bring candles and non-partisan signs that speak to the purpose of this vigil. We hope to have some extra signs and will also provide chairs.

Everyone’s support is greatly appreciated. Please help us spread the word to individuals and other networks.”
