Forest Park Zen Sangha… a weekly Zen sitting group

“To study the Buddha Way is to study the self. To study the self is to forget the self. To forget the self is to be actualized by myriad things.” Zen Master Dogen wrote this simple description of Zen practice over 800 years ago and it remains a relevant and wonderful doorway to the goal-less practice of Zen. Join us is exploring Zen and Buddhism through sitting meditation, conversation and reading, and sangha (community). We gather to support each other’s practice and in this small way commit to the realization of individual, local, and global compassion and wisdom. To return to Dogen: “Just practice good, do good for others, without thinking of making yourself known so that you may gain reward.”

Everyone is welcome to join and no experience is necessary.
