Christmas Eve: The Story in Lessons & Carols (UUSGS, 2020):

A collaborative, artistic, reverent, & joyful celebration (~60 minutes) of the story of Christmas, as told in sequence via lessons and carols.  Featuring the UUSGS Adult Choir with organ, strings, & brass, plus a range of readings and readers, this is offered for you and yours to watch & participate at a time that works for you!  Merry Christmas!

2020 has been a year like no other.   Christmas 2020 will be memorable, too.
Let’s make it memorable together.

Due to public health considerations, UUSGS will not hold in-person services on Christmas Eve.  This is disappointing to many.  Our sanctuary is filled for two services on Christmas Eve every year.  It’s a great occasion.  Our halls are decked; poinsettias and lights trim the space; the organ is ready.

Not this year.  Not with the risks to public health.  As many of you know, UUSGS suspended in-person in worship in March, and we are planning for that to continue at least through Spring 2021.

However, just because we can’t be together doesn’t mean we can’t be together!  Staff and volunteer have been planning for months already, and here is the plan:

  • December 18th & 20th:  A drive-thru event at UUSGS will occur from 5-8PM on Friday, and 2-5PM on Sunday.  Folks who have lanterns or cards to turn in can do so then.  We will also have goodie bags for folks that will include a special gift, as well as a candle for “Silent Night”.  Rumor has it that a certain red-suited friend may show up, as well…  (This will be drive-thru only; contactless exchange only.)  SIGN UP HERE TO RESERVE YOUR TIME SLOT.

  • December 24th, Christmas Eve (7PM):At 7PM, we will join together as one for a short (~15 minutes) service centered around singing “Silent Night” together by candlelight.  This will be a Zoom event, but it will be done so that we can see one another while singing.  Imagine a gallery view of your congregational family singing together by candlelight!

For anyone who is unable to travel to the congregation on the 18th or 20th, we will arrange delivery of goodie bags and candles.  (Volunteers welcome!)  A sign-up form for the drive-thru portion will be distributed beforehand via email and social media.
