UUSGS is a spiritual home to children and youth of all ages.  We believe that exploring and developing religious identity is a lifelong process.  Our Family Ministry program is developed intentionally to meet kids where they are, while also encouraging them to ask questions and build strong connections.  Our approach is less about top-down teaching and more about providing a healthy mix of nurture and challenge in a supportive environment.  You can’t force a plant to grow, but you can give it the best possible conditions.

Recently, we moved much of our programming online, with regular connection opportunities via Zoom and an active presence – including the UUSGS Family Forum – on Facebook.  We’re also trying something new called Choyr.  Choyr features an easy-to-use platform with access to shared materials and opportunities to engage with others securely in a private group.  Weekly offerings of resources and discussion starters are posted in multiple interest groups. Your participation in the space is very much welcomed and encouraged; registration is required.

Anyone interested in more information about our Choyr site – or Family Ministry in general – may request an invitation through this linked form: https://uuspringfield.breezechms.com/form/73999c.   Darcie Farber is UUSGS’s Director of Family Ministry.  She is also always happy to hear from you.

We know, too, that raising healthy kids means that parents and caregivers need time and encouragement to find and keep their balance, as well.  To support all those who parent, we offer two regular meet-ups (with childcare available): The Parenting Connection and Mindful Parenting.

Across all of our programs and in all of our interactions, we prioritize keeping our kids safe.  View our Safe Congregation policy here.
